What You Need to Know:

Here are a few things we recommend that will help make your experience memorable.
  • Golf - What to bring:
  • Golf clubs
You will enjoy playing with clubs you are used to rather than spending time adjusting to rentals. There are golf travel bags and accessories that protect golf clubs and make travel worry-free.
  • Golf Shoes
Most of the golf courses are walkable. Comfortable all weather golf shoes preferably non-white in colour. The bunkers have sand that is a rusty red colour due to the iron content in the soil.
  • Golf gloves
Pack at least two gloves. Most of the pro-shops have golf gloves for purchase if you end up needing to purchase a glove.
  • Golf balls, Long and short tees
Pack what you think would be suitable. You can purchase additional balls and tees from the pro-shops.
  • Golf hat
Helps protect you from the elements.
  • Cash
The recommended tipping guidelines for drivers who may double as local tour guides and caddies is $5 per person per day.
  • Raincoat
Being in a tropical climate zone we cannot rule out inclement weather.
  • Towels
Pack at least two or three golf towels.
  • Water bottle (optional)
If you bring a reusable water bottle make sure it has a filter or use water purification tablets. Avoid ice. There are bottles of water that can be purchased at the club house.
  • Bugs spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Safari - What to bring:
  • Pack light
Preferably a duffle bag that will fit comfortably in the smaller aircraft flying you to the safari destination.
  • Money
We strongly discourage carrying large sums of cash. Most hotels, restaurants and safari camps accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express). Plan to carry a small sum of cash to change to the local currency for tips and buying souvenirs.
  • Internet Access
Most safari camps and lodges have internet services albeit low speed due to weak WiFi signals. The best way to stay connected is to get the local sim-card. All you need is your passport to get a registered line.
  • Medication and Travel Insurance
Pack ample medication including prescription medicines to ensure you do not run out while on Safari. TGS offers Emergency Medical Evacuation cover for clients, however, as an added precaution we recommend you buy Travel Insurance if it is not covered by your personal insurance.
  • Photographs
Document your memorable experience with lots of photos. You can use cameras and phones to capture the flora and fauna in their natural habitats. Safari guides are glad to stop for you to take pictures. However, be respectful with residents and ask for permission to photograph them. When unsure, ask the guide.
  • Gratuity (Tipping)
When you are delighted by the service provided feel free to leave a tip.
Driver who also doubles as a guide - US$10 or more per day.
Private safari guide - US$25 or more per day
Camp staff - US$10-$20 per day as pooled tip that is shared among the housekeepers, waiters, bartender, etc.
  • Safety
To mitigate inherent risk during travel, always listen and observe your guide's instructions particularly when in National Parks and Game Reserves with wild animals. Do Not leave the vehicle, stay in the vehicle. Keep noise levels down. When in doubt as your guide.
